Here are some questions we are frequently asked and their answers. If you have any questions of your own please don't hesitate to contact us by phone or email.
Q. What makes and models do you service?
A. We service all makes and models. Including log book servicing.
Q. How does your pricing work?
A. When we quote a price on requested maintenance/repairs or further maintenance/repairs required it will always include the following, parts, labour and gst.
Our labour is calculated on our hourly rate x the amount of time required to finish the repairs/servicing. If it takes less time then it's less labour, it's that simple.
If we find that a job quoted is going to take longer, which will therefor make the overall cost more (i.e. a part required to be removed is seized ) we will stop to inform you of the problem with the revised cost.
Q. What happens if the work required exceeds the original quote?
A. During the diagnosis phase of our work we should be able to determine
whether any complications may arise. If we find that something may take longer
we will stop and contact you to seek your approval. The same also follows if
the original part is not available and we need to source
the part out of another company we will stop to inform you of the new price.
Q. Can I tell you what I want done with my car?
A. Here at Petrie Mechanical Repairs we will only do what work you request and authorise. Your vehicle your choice.
Q. How early can I drop my car in?
A. Most days there will be an employee here at 7:20am however we do have an earlier drop off procedure. To find out more please contact us.
Q. How can I get home/to work from your workshop?
A. We are conveniently located to both train and bus stations if you catch a train to work. Otherwise if you are in a surrounding local suburb one of the friendly staff will be able to drop you home/to work and organise picking you up when your car is completed if necessary.
Q. How late can I pick my car up?
A. Anywhere up to 5pm is acceptable however if you are unable to make it here by 5pm then we also have the option of a credit card payment over the phone and from there we can organise how you would like us to organise locking up your car.
Q. When do I pay?
A. When the work is completed and the bill is finalised and you come to pick up your car, however payment over the phone is accepted. We have also installed a pre-payment plan where you can make weekly/fortnightly/monthly payments that get credited to your account so that when you book in for service/repairs your vehicle is already payed for and ready to go all you have to do is drop it off and pick it up.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. We accept cash, EFTPoS or credit. Any other forms of payment will need to be prearranged with management prior to your booking.
